With five different access points — Ried, Kaltenbach, Aschau, Zellberg, and Hippach — the Zillertaler Höhenstraße promises an unforgettable experience for everyone who travels its winding routes.
Hallstatt
Videos don’t do the view of Hallstatt justice, with its lake, picturesque buildings, and the backdrop of the Alps that look like they came out of a storybook. Hallstatt enchants me unlike any other place. The 7,000-year-old salt mines are one thing, but the architectural beauty is unmatched.
And the story does not end there. The village is known for its skywalk, which lets you see the whole village from breathtaking heights. Resting by the serene environment of the lake while sipping on warm coffee is truly a comforting experience. The entire scenery leaves a mark that I will cherish forever. You cannot go wrong with a place that UNESCO has claimed as a World Heritage Site.
St. Gilgen
Set on the banks of Lake Wolfgang, St. Gilgen is a small village with well-known scenic and cultural value, located in Austria’s Salzkammergut. St. Gilgen is 25 kilometers from Salzburg and is referred to as “Mozart Village”.
Tourists can delve into the rich history of the place, admire the traditional alpine-style buildings, and relish the breathtaking view of the mountains and the lake. For many, a highlight of the region is the Zwölferhorn cable car, which provides unique and stunning views of the region, with the peak of the descent revealing astonishing sights.
